NSSA Sunset

Team Drift surf had a solid showing in this past weekend's NSSA event at /Sunset beach. The waves were a solid 4-6 ft and everyone surfed well. The waves looked like bombing Waimea for Makana Pang who ripped his way to 3rd place. Kaito Kino and Kylen Yamakawa also surfed well to clinch a 3rd place finish in each of their divisions. Good Job!

We are now selling the EFX band in place of the Power Balance. The EFX band is made from embedded wearable holographic technology, and is designed to stabilize and harmonize the body's bioelectric current. It has two chips on the top and bottom of the band to maximize strength. The benefits of using EFX are that it may reduce stress, jet lag, swelling, and motion sickness. It also may increase balance, strength, flexibiblity, and endurance.

Team Drift's Kylen Yamakawa is back from his recent ankle injury. He broke his ankle in May, but is back in the water and competing again. Last weekend was his first contest since the injury at Lahaina, /Maui for NSSA, placing 2nd. This Saturday he won the HSA contest at courts in the men's division. Good Start of the Season!!!

this past weekend team Drift Surf competed in the Hawaii Noseriding Championship 2010. The team was made up of Genki Kino, Kaito Kino, Takako Kino, Geoff Wong, and Derek Wong. Together they collected the most time on the nose (hang 5/ hang 10) to take home 1st place!!! Great job to Kaito who WON his stacked division and also to Takako who WON the womens division!!!

Drift Surf Team Rider Kaito Kino has been on a roll, racking up wins in this season's HSA surf series. the first event was at "Queens", where Kaito earned a 2nd place in the juniors, and dominated the open mens by finishing 1st. At the Sandy Beach event, Kaito blitzed the field, coming out with a double win in the juniors and Open men divisions. At "straight-outs" Kaito didn't disappoint, as he made his third straight final of the HSA season, finishing 4th. Good job Kaito! Keep up the good work!!

The waves at Dhead are solid 2 feet with some bigger sets. It's pretty crowded since we never had waves for a long time. If you can't surf this weekend don't worry cause there's more south swells on the way.

Last Saturday me and my brother headed out to Makaha at 6 in the morning because he was going to surf in the Quiksilver Makahiki Longboard contest. The waves were really small so they didn't start the contest. So, we headed around the mountain to the North Shore. The waves weren't as good as expected when we got to Ehukai, so we went all the way to Mokuleia to surf this "SECRET" spot. I met up with Kylen, Cole, Mahina, Sayuri, and Kaz. We had a little surf contest that Kaz called "THE BET CHALLENGE." It was fun and i ended up winning(BEST WAVE) a complete meal for lunch and Kylen ended up winning(BEST EAT IT) a drink from Kaz Sano! GO DRIFT SURFERS! Thanks Kazzzzz.

Today was the first day of the WQS 5 star Volcom Pipeline Pro. Congrats to Marcus Hickman, Drift team rider, on his advancement to the Round of 64, where he will meet fellow Hawaii surfers Jamie O'Brien, Flynn Novak, and Gavin Gillete. We just got a new board from Wade Tokoro. The foam he used was a old Clark Foam! Wade had a couple left in his storage and he decided to shape one of the last Clark Foams left.

This board is his newest model called B-3 and it features a lower rocker with deeper concaves. This board was made to go faster in the smaller surf and surfable in medium waves as well. Come check it out at Drift Surf Hawaii.

FINALLY the devil SW winds are gone!!!

Today the waves in town were FINALLY good. The muggy vog and onshore winds switched to perfect light offshore tradewinds which created near perfect conditions for town. The surf was super glassy and waves were in the 3 foot range. Diamond Head was going off because it catches the West swell wrap and I got many calls from my friends saying it was EPIC! I ended up surfing Kewalos, which doesn't catch the west wrap too good but still had a lot of fun out there with the morning crew. There should be plenty of fun rippable waves in town for the rest of the week. Hope to see you all out in the surf. ALOHA.
